Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Civitas mobile application ("App") operated by Civitas Tech, Inc. ("Company," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Civitas is a civic intelligence platform that provides users with information about government activity, legislation, campaign finance, elections, and representative voting records. The App allows users to vote on constituent polls, view publicly available government data, and track representative alignment with constituent preferences.

You must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the United States to use Civitas. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.

You may create an account using your email address or through Apple Sign In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as necessary.

To vote on constituent polls, you must verify your identity through our third-party verification provider (Persona). Verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a selfie. This process confirms you are a real person and prevents duplicate voting. Your verification data is deleted immediately after the process completes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Civitas constituent polls are not official government votes, elections, or referenda. They are surveys of constituent sentiment designed to measure public opinion on specific legislation. Poll results are used to calculate representative alignment scores and may be displayed publicly in aggregate form. Individual votes are anonymous and cannot be attributed to specific users.

You may cast one vote per poll. Attempting to create multiple accounts, manipulate poll results, or circumvent the one-vote-per-person requirement is a violation of these terms and may result in account termination.

Civitas aggregates data from public government sources including Congress.gov, the Federal Election Commission, the Senate Office of Public Records, USASpending.gov, and state election offices. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free. Government data sources may contain delays, omissions, or inaccuracies that are beyond our control.

AI-generated bill analyses, summaries, and impact assessments are produced by artificial intelligence and may contain errors or oversimplifications. They are provided for informational purposes and should not be relied upon as legal, financial, or political advice.

Civitas is a nonpartisan platform. We do not endorse, support, or oppose any political party, candidate, or ideology. Our alignment scores, poll results, and data presentations are designed to be factual and neutral. The platform presents data; users draw their own conclusions.

You agree not to:

• Create multiple accounts or use false identity information
• Attempt to manipulate poll results or alignment scores
• Scrape, crawl, or programmatically access the App without permission
• Use the App to harass, threaten, or defame any individual
• Interfere with the App's operation or security
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose

The Civitas name, logo, design, and AI technology are the property of Civitas Tech, Inc. Government data displayed in the App is public domain. AI-generated analyses are the property of Civitas Tech, Inc. You may share Civitas-generated share cards and data visualizations with attribution.

You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon deletion, your personal data is removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CIVITAS TECH, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
